chicken soup is not good for your soul

Sam Tufnell

OPENING RECEPTION: SATURDAY, june 5, 6-8pm

Throughout his career Sam Tufnell has tried to resolve the issue between monumentality and sculpture. Over the years his subject matter has devolved more and more into a kind of anti-monumentality, and with this exhibition he tears down the monumentality of our chicken soup mystic. In this video the letters that spell “CHICKEN SOUP IS NOT GOOD FOR YOUR SOUL”, made with real chicken soup, melt down into mush, only to reassemble again, ready for the next collapse.
Sam Tufnell has shown his work previously in a solo exhibition at FiveMyles, Castle Fitzjohns Gallery, SpaceWomb Gallery and Amos Eno Gallery in New York and at LMNT Arts in Miami. He has participated in numerous group exhibitions.

The FiveMyles Plus/Space, where the video is installed, has the advantage of opening up onto the sidewalk; Locked with a latticed steel gate the exhibition space is safely locked and allows for 24/7 viewing of the installation.
