FiveMyles’ mission to present exciting contemporary art and performance to the public established it very quickly as a gathering place. The art we showed came alive because of the web of friendships, neighborhood connections, and collaborations. The gallery existed in a specific time and place: the Crown Heights of the first two decades of the 21 st century. Its founder, Hanne Tierney, made it into a space open to anyone who cared to push its door open and engage with what was shown and performed inside.

Below is a short timeline assembled by Hanne Tierney and edited by Marine Cornuet. It highlights a few milestones in the gallery’s history, but is far from an exhaustive account of everything that took place at FiveMyles over the years.
