performance June 18, 5:30pm

The Midnight Milk Show presents Potato Readers, a kinetic installation. Using potato powered seismograph technology, a group of automaton detectives attempt to intercept readings from another dimension.

In this show, while the materials may take the form of detectives, they do not hide behind illusion. The exposed chicken wire, tape, canvas, and plywood retain their identities as raw quotidian materials, and are not absorbed by the sculptural forms they represent. The seismograph is used because it is a machine that detects vibrations on a massive scale, the kind that represent a threat or lack of stability. It is a scientific instrument that flattens time, space, and unstable environments into line drawings. By turning its readings into sound, this crew of automaton detectives double as protectors searching for warning signals by generating art on a feedback loop with their surroundings.

It's the Midnight Milk Show with your hosts, J.R. and TR. Est. 2016, the Midnight Milk Show is a variety show specializing in demolition for artists. Their flagship happening, the Midnight Milk Auction, has been destroying unsold art on the spot for 6 seasons.
