MasculineUs

Sheba Legend

For many years, Sheba Legend has documented, through photography, video, and audio recordings women who embrace their natural masculinity. The black and white photographs in the exhibition are part of the artist’s ongoing human rights media project; with the intent to create awareness of, and stop, the bigoted bias against these women.

Frustrated by the lack of representation of masculine presenting women in the media, Sheba Legend asked women with whom she identified to let her photograph them. The resulting photographs show the strength and pride of the women whose pictures she took. The instant trust between those photographed and the photographer is apparent in these images.
